WRSC 2003

Workshop on Robust Software Construction

February 28 -- March 2, 2003
Hayama, Kanagawa

Objective

Information Processing Laboratory in the University of Tokyo starts a project named "Robust Software Construction". As its name indicates, this project aims to formalize a framework which assists construction of "robust" software that is efficient, correct, safe, and secure.

As the beginning of this five-year project, we would like to hold a workshop and welcome researchers of various fields in order to deepen knowledge and insight each other regarding robustness of software construction. The research topics of this workshop are (but not limited to):

Invited Talks

Prof. Hong Mei(Peking University)
Prof. Alberto Pettorossi(University of Roma Tor Vergata)
Dr. Maurizio Proietti(IASI-CNR)
Prof. Eric Van Wyk(University of Minnesota)

Place / Accommodations

This workshop will be held at IPC (International Productivity Center), Hayama, Kanagawa, where accommodations are also available.

http://www.js-ipc.gr.jp/

It is about 90 min trip from Tokyo to IPC. Access information (in Japanese) can be obtained from:

http://www.js-ipc.gr.jp/access/index.html

We will prepare access information in English soon.

The following information would be useful for you.

On your arrival:

There are two train companies coming to Narita Airport: JR (one of ex-national companies) and Keisei Line. When you arrive at Narita Airport, please take Keisei Line (Narita Airport terminal) to the other terminal "Keisei Ueno". You can take a Skyliner limited express which runs every 30 to 40 minutes (1,920 yen) or an ordinary express train (1,000 yen). The train trip takes around 1 hour.

The campus as well as your hotel "Yamanaka Ryokan" is within 15 to 20 minutes walk from the Keisei Ueno terminal. Some Lab member (maybe I if possible) will take you to the hotel from the Keisei Ueno terminal.

The hotel and meals:

We have reserved hotel stays, but without meals (breakfast, either). It can be easily changed, so please let us know your preference.

For your information, the contact to the Hotel "Yamanaka-Ryokan":

 4--23--1 Ikenohata, Taito-ku, Tokyo
Phone: +81-(0)3-3821-4751
Fax: +81-(0)3-3821-4770

On cash:

We will hand you `daily allowances' corresponding to your staying days. We are hoping to prepare it as early as possible, but it may be 24th in the earliest case, or around 27th when it fails.

I heard cash dispenser in larger postal offices (one exists near the campus of U-Tokyo) accepts credit cards (and probably cash cards with PLUS or Cirrus tags) for cashing. It is, however, Saturday that you arrive, so please bring some cash and exchange it at the Airport for sure.

Though the hotel does not seem to accept credit cards, it is ordinarily OK to prolong the payment until your checkout.

Some required documents:

As I have informed, the administrators require some documents. Please bring
- the receipt.

We will also ask a copy of flight tickets and your passport; this can be done after your arrival. For sure, also please keep the stab of the coming flight ticket.

Have a nice trip to Tokyo!
